Site Accessibility & Optimization with Alt, Heading Tag and Attribute

Category: On Page SEO & Optimization Posted by Admin
Believe it or not Alt Tags, <h> Tags, and Attributes can immensely enhance the search engine optimisation campaign for a website. Unfortunately most of the webmasters overlook these and do not use them to the benefit of the site. These can be referred to as one of the on page optimization techniques relating to the presentation and accessibility of the webpage content. They make the website easy to understand and navigate as well as help the search engines to know the key phrases and terms.

simple tag seo

Most of the SEO consultant and web designers will agree that a website designed without images looks incomplete. Images make the website interactive. But then what about the search engines which do not have eyes to see and understand the message of the image. ALT Tag comes as a best solution for them. The alt tag should be a short description of the image enabling everybody to understand its relation to the text.

Alt tag can look like

Headings draw visitor’s attention and hence are required to be highlighted. <b> tags, and <font size= > are usually used for this purpose, but it is recommended to use a heading tag instead. The heading tag that is <h> has five different types like <h1>,<h2>,<h3>,<h4> and <h5>. Out of these <h1> and <h2> can be used for major title while the remaining three <h3>,<h4> and <h5> for the subtitles. Search engines value these tags more than <b> or <font size= > tag as they give the gist of the content on the page. This helps search engines in indexing the page easily and quickly.

The text to speech software reads the title attribute loud so that the visually impaired can understand and get a hint about the content of the page the link will take to. If your site relates to batteries then let them say so. It will also help the search engines judge the content on your page.
