Is a Website Different from a Blog?

Category: SEO News & FAQ Posted by Admin
Is a website different from a blog? Many SEO Consultants would say that some of the features of the blog like conversation options, publication of current news, RSS feed, dynamism and blogosphere are not found in a website. So far as my knowledge is concerned except blogosphere rest all the features can be found in a website.

websites VS blogs

Just like blogs various dynamic websites are actually possible which consist of template and can have large number of pages as well as content from various locations. From the conversation point websites can also serve as a medium for communication between the visitor and the owner by using a comment page or establish a connection to a forum to communicate with the users. However there are a few exceptions to these. Forums, Web 2.0 sites and wikis cannot have this feature. Websites can also have plenty of services to make a RSS feed.

Think of websites like news.bbc.co.uk/ and www.cnn.com. Don’t they publish news and ofcourse there are many other news sites available. There is no sphere for websites and hence the blogosphere can be a difference. But not actually as it is not tangible.

Most would agree with me that the major difference between websites and blogs is about being up to date or timeless. The website content has no time limit. It remains the same for years and still attracts visitors. While for Blog, they are time bound. People want to read fresh articles on Blog. On blog people would not read even two months old articles. In such case blogger can hide or remove the date of the article.

The best is to have blogsites combining the advantages of websites and blogs. Yes, it is a bit difficult but the results are amazing. For news which is read often, the date can be put into the content or updates should be added. Some news or blogs can also be rewritten and posted as new. But the best way is to republish them.
