Linking to penalized pages can harm your own website

Category: Link Building Posted by Admin

Undoubtedly the title of the blog “Linking to penalized pages can harm your own website” has made you more alert and wanting to know more.  Linking in search engine optimisation means to connect with different websites or web pages by exchanging internal, external and outbound links. The process of such an exchange of links is called link building. If there are 10 effective SEO techniques then link building will rank 3rd most important, the first being unique content and second keyword optimization.

linking-penalized-importance

The vitality of link building in SEO has made mandatory for all the SEO consultants to have an outperforming link building campaign. In this competition to beat the other website or SEO services provider many times it happens out of ignorance or purposely that they get linked to pages likely to be penalized. Google penalizes sites due to duplicate content, short duration domain name, not adhering to Google guidelines, link farms and others. Indisputably linking to such pages will also get your website penalised.

I being a SEO service professional have to keep an eye on my competitor’s site and today morning I was very much surprised to learn that the site ranking on the first page last evening was now on the 10th page. Making a detailed study of the site I came to know that this had happened because one of the internal links of the site was having duplicate content and hence was banned.  Here the competitors’ website was paying the price for someone else’s deed, just because it was not careful enough at the time of link building.

Therefore it is suggested that involve in relevant and proper link building campaign and not aggressive. Just a simple overlook and you will be thrashed with heavy results.
