    A big point to note here is the world is very large and comprises of different countries speaking different languages and following different culture. This makes it important to have more than one search engine which can be specific to each country and give the most relevant results.

One more usefulness of country specific search engines is the results are not only relevant but also language specific. Hence it is important to rank in country specific search engines.

    The irony of SEO is it is never certain what efforts can get you to the first page. Often it might happen you have all the things needed for a good ranking in place but still your site ranking is not improved. One reason for this can be your site hosting. It is quite possible that you wish to rank for a particular country while your site would be hosted on some other country.

    Search engines can determine the nationality of a website based on the IP address as well as the domain extensions like .co.uk or .com.au. For example if you have a site with .co.uk and wish to rank good in Google in USA then this might not be quite possible. However if you shift your host from UK to USA your chances to rank become brighter.  Different tools can be used to know the nationality of a site and do the optimisation accordingly.

    Many might not be aware that Yahoo! existed much before than even Google was introduced to the Internet world which soon gained popularity as it delivered more accurate results. Today Google occupies 75-80 percent of market and the remaining 20-25% is shared by other less popular search engines. Since Yahoo! is first a directory and then a search engine a site registered with it stands better chances of ranking.

    However when we think of optimizing a site particularly for Yahoo! it is more advisable to keep in mind the on page optimisation factors like the keyword use and optimisation and content. Unlike Google Yahoo! places more emphasis on keywords and using more of them will not get you banned. But beware the same can get you easily banned on Google. Whether to optimize a site for Google or Yahoo! depends on the keywords you wish to target.

    Any SEO services provider will optimize a site first for Google and then for any other search engine. The reason is simple that Google occupies a larger share in the search market as compared to all others. Also topping in Google automatically increases your chances on other search engines.

    Google Yahoo or MSN

    However ranking in Google is not all that easy. Often a SEO company puts in lots of efforts and still does not achieve top ranking. But we cannot blame the SEO Company for a known fact that search engines keep changing their website ranking parameters. Is it the same for other search engines or how good it would be to rank for Yahoo! or MSN?

    Undoubtedly Yahoo! or MSN are less popular search engines but still if you give it a deeper thought you will feel they are good to bring you satisfactory visitors. However it is actually impossible to optimize the same site for all the major search engines but you can definitely submit your site to different search engines.

    Alternatively you can submit a site to search directories and good search engines. The plus point to these sites is the type of visitors they receive where most of them are potential customers looking for a particular product or service. They are a good option to reach your targeted customers. The number of visitors might not be as high as that received by a top ranking in Google but the quality can be assured to be good.

    Hence it should always be remembered that Google is not the only source to bring traffic to your site but you should keep trying other sources as well. It is quite possible that a good ranking on other search engines like Yahoo! means that out of 20 customers using Yahoo! 15 customers will be coming to you. Also ranking in these sites is not all that difficult and the process is quite in sync with that of Google.

    The latest introduction to the number of the search engines is the Bing by Microsoft. It seems to be different in quite a many terms from Google. The biggest worry for a SEO company is whether to optimize a site for Bing or not.

    The logical answer can be it is too early to think about it. Bing is still in the introductory stage and Google is already an established search engine. Hence what is more important is Google SEO. However a few over enthusiast SEO services providers have already thought of Bing optimisation.  

    Below are a few facts from SEO Company to be kept in mind for Bing SEO:

    •    A similarity between Bing and Google is the importance given to the anchor text.
    •    Backlinks and link spamming gain less importance on Bing. Number of links and their quality will actually not work for Bing.
    •    For Bing Offpage optimisation is less important than Onpage optimisation. However there is no certainty on this because some SEO experts agree to this while some do not.
    •    The domain age and site authority are more important for Bing. This will in fact be a bad news for bloggers and small sites.
    •    While deciding the ranking of a site Google takes into account the page rank also but Bing is quite different in this aspect. When we research the first rankings on Bing it is observed that most of the sites do not have a PR2 or higher.
    •    New unique content does not have all that importance on Bing as on Google. Hence it is often observed that old sites also rank good on Bing while on Google this is not the case.
    •    The optimisation parameters set by Google for inclusion of Flash site in the SERP are quite difficult and usually give nightmare to the SEOs. The same is not the case with Bing as it is Flash friendly.

    SEO Company often forgets that besides Google there are two more search engines which are gaining popularity they are Yahoo and MSN. Undoubtedly Google is the champion among the search engines but Yahoo! and MSN also receive 10-15% of the Internet searches.  Though the searches are less they are good to bring traffic to your site when majority of people optimize sites for Google. This makes us ponder is it really important to optimize site for MSN.

    While search engine optimisation for Google and MSN is quite different there are many basic techniques which are common for both. If a site is doing well with Google then there are all possible chances that it might rank good on MSN. However it is not the same the other way round. If you rank good on MSN then it is not necessary you will rank high on Google. There is no use of ranking high on MSN and not being seen on Google.

    Search engines use spiders to crawl through the websites and decide relevancy of a website page to the searched keyword. The spiders of different search engines use different algorithms to confirm the ranking of a website. Like any SEO company would say before you start optimizing a site for a particular search engine it is important to learn how the search engine algorithms work to have the best results for the SEO efforts.

    When experts talk about MSN’s algorithm it is often said that it is not yet that advanced as compared to Google’s. In fact it has a long distance to cover to reach the level where Google is. Most of the search engines do not consider Meta tags for ranking a website while MSN emphasizes on Meta tags. Another important difference between the two is that Google lays equal importance on both on-page optimisation and off-page optimisation. However MSN gives less importance to off-page factors like backlinks.

    Hence it can be concluded that whether you optimize your site for MSN or not is less important as compared to the fact that Google excels all the search engines and it is important to optimize a site for it. This will automatically help the site rank on MSN also.

Making a Google friendly website means optimizing each page of the website in a manner that it got crawled and indexed by Google. Today it has become more cooperative and is willing to help the webmasters to the extent possible. Like it has introduced W3C web designing guidelines which help the web designers or masters know how to make a website search engine friendly?     These guidelines clearly role out that good quality content especially on the home page is very much appreciated by Google.
