We have often heard our elders telling us to stay away from bad people or else we might get influenced by them which may affect our reputation and personal life. But why does a SEO company feel important to stay away from bad neighbor? The answer is quite clear it is because when a well ranking site unknowingly links with a bad site it affects the sites ranking and no SEO company would like to see its efforts wasted due to some other site.

    SEO bad neighbor

No SEO services provider can deny links are the crucial steps one needs to climb to successfully reach the goal of high ranking. Different methods can be used for building links and one has to be careful while doing this as it is this process when the site can get connected to a bad neighbor. The effect of bad neighbors is seen in both inbound and outbound links and the disastrous among them are the outbound links to bad neighbors.

It is quite possible a site might not be bad when you link to it but it can become bad later when it indulges in such practices. There are different reasons for which a site can be titled as bad. Some of these can be listed as below:

    •    Repeating the keywords many times in the same page
    •    When the content is not original or copied from some other site
    •    Hiding text by coloring them in White or using small font print
    •    The site gets strangled in any copyright violations
    •    It uses machine generated pages

This might keep you worrying as to how do you know if a site is good or bad? There hundreds of sites using wrong methods to increase their ranking. You can refer to a list of blacklisted sites. Also you can check if a site is indexed or not by using “site:www.site.com” attribute in Google.

Google has its own parameters for punishing a website when it manipulates the Google algorithms for ranking a site. It is not that Google loves to punish you but a system to prevent the bad SEO practitioners from taking the advantage of using short cuts or better say bad SEO techniques.

    Google penalization

Being punished by Google is the biggest nightmare any SEO company can have as it affects the reputation of the company and also it is very difficult to handle dissatisfied clients. Clients who pay thousands of rupees for SEO heat up the flame when they are unable to find their site on the Google ranking page.

The process of punishing a site by Google is called banning or penalizing and when this happens Google will not tell you it has banned your site. Your site is said to be banned when there is a sudden fall in the rankings or when the site ranking automatically becomes zero.

The reason to why Google penalizes a site is quite simple. When you do something that is disliked by Google you can be banned. As we all know anything over done looks shabby similarly when a site is over optimized search engines become suspicious about it. Please note over optimization here refers to onsite optimisation.

Some of the SEO techniques which can get you banned by Google can be listed as follows:

    •    Use of keywords above the 3-4% specified limit
    •    Hosting irrelevant content just for the sake of keyword stuffing
    •    Prepare two different pages one for the viewers and the other for the search engines
    •    Using hidden text like coloring the text in White or using very small font
    •    Using the same domain for multiple pages
    •    Creating a number of sites and inter linking them
    •    Buying links from link farms
    •    Linking to bad sites meaning sites with poor reputation and content

If you are a SEO company many times you might have had the nightmare of one of your website getting banned. This is a common problem most of the SEO face. How do you know your website is banned? When all of a sudden the ranking for your site falls or your page is no more indexed with Google. It is quite possible you might not be aware of the reasons that got your site banned.

    knowwhy Google Bans

If you are a SEO services provider and would never ever want to have this nightmare than you know why website gets banned by Google. Mostly websites get banned due to the use of the various quick ranking techniques. A good ranking for a few months is no good for a lifetime zero traffic.

The use of techniques considered NOT GOOD by Google for increasing the traffic to your site can get you banned. One of such techniques is automatically generated pages. Automated pages are created by scraper programs. It can be used to scrape search engines results for a keyword and copy the content to create directories. Thousands of keywords can be added to the program and it will automatically create one page for each separate keyword. This is counted as duplicate content and the site gets banned.

A link directory is another type of automatically generated page. A script needs to be added to your page and hundreds of link pages are added to your site. But often it is forgotten that the URL to all those hundreds of link pages remains the same past slash. This indicates Google of duplicate pages. Soon your site is not seen even in the index.

However if you still wish to use automated pages for your site you need to make sure that it gives you individual URL for each page. Also make sure you have unique content on each page.

It is human nature to take short cuts to reach a particular goal. However winner is the one who finds the right short cut. Same principle applies to search engine optimisation. There are hundreds of Liverpool SEO company promising to increase the ranking of a website in a small period of time. But it is important to know in detail the techniques which the webmaster will use to be on the safer side.

    avoid google banned

There are various SEO techniques which can ban you from Google. When Google bans a site it affects the existence and ranking of a site. With so stiff competition for SEO it is difficult to know if your site is banned. There are chances of you being banned by Google if:

Today morning you were seen on the first page and evening you are not found on the SERP
When Google does not return with your site when searched for using the site (site: your site url) command
There is a sudden decrease in your page rank.

Take a look at the below factors to know what can get you banned:

Making text or links hidden by coloring them in white
When two different pages and content are made one for search engine and other for user this is called Cloaking in technical terms.
Use of 3-5% keywords are considered as legal. More keywords are considered as keyword stuffing and are disliked by Google.
Having duplicate content by creating domains, sub domains or multiple pages
Use of pages with mischievous behavior like installing mal-ware
    Doorway pages with duplicate content

To answer the question what to do if you are banned by Google It should be remembered that it is temporary. Many times just undoing what wrong you did and then resubmitting to Google can get you out of it.  Resubmitting can be done through Google Webmaster Tools. This may need you to email Google informing the change you did. The email should be nicely and courteously written as it is some human on the other end who is going to read it. This will boost your chances of freeing from the ban.
