In a media summit in San Francisco held by
Nintendo on 2nd October, the focus but obviously on holiday games
and the upcoming DSi. What’s more exciting is to hear the announcement of the
Wii Speak Channel that will launch this November.
Initially this summer The Wii
Speak peripheral, a multidirectional “community microphone” works in the
diameter of 24 feet, was mentioned for the upcoming online game Animal Crossing:
City Folk only. However, Nintendo announce to sell Wii Speak separately as
well. Nintendo Wii speak Channel would enable you to communicate with up to
three other Wii owners concurrently. The channel can also be used to leave
voice mails and exchange image files.
The Wii Speak Channel is an
independent VoIP communication device that doesn’t need computer or a headset
mic. Being able to work as billed, it could be used to make free
person-to-person calls and hold conversations between entire rooms full of
people.
The Wii Speak Channel
has also been touted as the potential communication alternative over the next
decade. Unfortunately, no
other details available about the features and price and stuff like usage of
USB mic for karaoke still needs to be answered. Still it can destine as a fun-and-games speakerphone for Wii owners.
