Finally the much awaited and rumoured iPhone 3G release date has been unveiled and the second generation Mobile phones will be hitting the markets on 11th July, 2008.

Apple claims that the new 3G connection will be roughly 2.8 times as fast as the Edge wireless connection on the original iPhone. The iPhone 3G will also feature support for GPS hardware, a curved all-plastic backing and a flush headphone jack rather than the recessed jack that limited accessory options with the original iPhone.  Also there will be sharp improvements in the battery life.

Here are some of the extracts of what the charismatic Apple CEO Steve Jobs had to say in San Francisco, "the iPhone 3G will sell for $199 for an 8GB version and $299 for a 16GB version. The new prices represent a departure from a year ago when the first devices sold for $599 on the upper end. The iPhone 3G will be available in 22 countries beginning July 11, and will eventually be sold in 70 countries in all.

Apple is changing the rules of the game as well by increasing the number of operators to cooperate in some areas. In Italy, Egypt and Switzerland, consumers have more choices. In addition, Apple has become increasingly flexible on the revenue-sharing mechanism, and is willing to cut income sharing to achieve non-unique modes of cooperation.  Apple 3G  iPhone will surely be  an  interesting phone to watch out for!
