All SEO services providers will definitely agree that many search engines have entered the market and planning to expand their reach still Google is undefeatable and holds majority of search market. However it cannot be ignored that if Google occupies 80% of the searches then the remaining market is definitely occupied by other search engines like Bing, Yahoo!, MSN, Ask and others. For some companies this 20% ranking on search engines other than Google can be crucial.
A comparison of results for a particular search term "SEO company" clearly shows that the results shown by both Google and Bing are quite different. This means that Bing surely has a different algorithm than Google. Hence for a SEO expert it is important to know the details of how the Bing algorithm works. However it is quite early to ponder about it because still Bing is in the toddler stage and we are not sure how long it will go.
Many SEO experts have been working hard to find how Bing works but different SEOs have different opinions. Most of the experts are studying the first ten results obtained for a particular keyword and have come to the following conclusions:
Bing as compared to Google gives less importance to backlinks. However it is still not clear if "no follow" links matter or not.
The number of inbound links is also given less importance than the quality of anchor text. Basically quality anchor text will work for both.
It is obvious that if backlinks are less important than link spamming will also not do much to increase the ranking on Bing.
There are certain agreements and disagreements in the SEO field regarding the importance given to onpage factors in Bing. Some say onpage factors are more important while for some it is not so.
Authenticity of the site also seems to gain more importance on Bing and if it is actually true then it will be sad news for bloggers and small sites.
Unlike Google it is found that Bing gives less importance to the page rank. It is very surprising to note that out of first 10 ranking sites only a few have PR2 or higher.
